Next in lineDo you want to have the best schoolies ever? You only get to graduate high school once in your life, so it’s important that you have as much fun as you can during your schoolies week in Surfers Paradise. To truly have a great time and take part in all the fun activities that are available, it’s important to make a plan and be totally prepared for what’s in store.

So what are you waiting for? Use the following tips to help get prepared for what could be one of the most fun weeks of your life:

1. Decide Who You’ll Go With

The people you go to schoolies with will have a large impact on your experience, either for better or worse. Obviously you will want to go with your closest friends – those you have fun with, who you trust, and can get along with, even after hanging out non-stop for a week. These are people who you will be sharing accommodation with, deciding who to go with to events, and are also the ones who will keep an eye on you throughout the festivities to make sure you’re doing okay.

Choose your schoolies mates wisely to ensure you have the best and safest time possible.

2. Plan Your Activities

While the most popular schoolies week activity is kicking back at the beach, there are still plenty of other fun things to do while on the Gold Coast, such as visiting Phillip Park, Stradbroke Island, or even some of the theme parks that are nearby. There are also specific schoolies events planned every year, such as concerts, and parties on the beach, so it’s up to you and your friends to decide what you want to do.

Remember to think about how much money you and your friends have to spend, how long you are planning on staying, and what kind of experience you’re after.

3. Book Your Accommodation Early

Especially during schoolies week, all of the Surfers Paradise accommodation is going to fill up really fast, so it’s important that you plan and book your accommodation early. This is probably going to be your largest expense as well, but remember that having a comfortable place of your own to crash in will feel really nice after a long day of socialising and partying.

Some other things to think about when booking your accommodation is the cost of a bond that you may have to give, the location, and whether or not you can prepare your own meals.

4. Can You Really Afford to Go?

Are you worried that you’ll go into major debt to enjoy schoolies week? If that’s the case, then you’ll have to make a budget well before you go and stick to it. Accommodation, transport, food and drink, and activities, are going to be your major costs, so make sure you budget for these closely. Don’t forget about extras, however, like sunscreen, holiday insurance, medical expenses, and an emergency fund.

The most important, albeit difficult, part is actually sticking to your budget once you’re there, so come up with whatever system is going to work well for you.

Schoolies week is a great way to say goodbye to your youth and hello to adulthood, but the week can quickly go from good to bad, if you’re not prepared. The more ready you are to have a fun, safe time, the better your week will be!
